William Watkins

Founder and Managing Director, Radnor Hills

Having read Agriculture and Food Marketing at Newcastle University, William Watkins returned to his family farm in 1988 and twelve months later decided to diversify the farming business by packing mineral water into cuplets for the airline industry which, for two years he sold, with relative success, from the back of his car.

The market for water cuplets was relatively small and specialised and in 1995 William installed his first bottling line and hence began a journey which was to lead to ownership of a company filling 200 million out of a capacity of 300 million bottles per year.

William’s company, Radnor Hills now employs 170 people, and produces and sells a wide range of water, soft drinks and juices both in the UK and overseas. William still has extensive farming interests as well as having further diversified into the hotel industry.
